2015: Flower Power is Back

As a Stella & Dot stylist, I get to peek at all the new designs first – and I love sharing previews with you! What I’m seeing for spring is lavender, hot pink, green with gold, cream and ice blue.  In terms of design, there’s a brand new floral influence that shows up in the way necklace chains and patterns are being constructed.

For example, look at this beautiful cream and pearl-colored petal necklace, called the Birdie Necklace which I first spotted worn by our founder and CEO Jessica Herrin. Clearly the petals say floral, but even the shape of the chain itself is lush and leafy. Of course this necklace showcases the usual versatility of Stella & Dot’s designs; the petals are detachable, leaving a chic chain with sparkles that will easily transition from home to office to cocktails.

Also in new arrivals is a ring I love that looks like it was inspired by Tiffany’s T rings. The Zinnia Split Ring is a softened Art Deco ring with two floral elements on either side of an elongating open space in the middle. It’s very different looking and super feminine. The Trellis Necklace features Kelly green, ice blue, cream and beige floral gemstone arrangements on a super sleek chain. It’s an elegant look for spring!

Keep it Simple. It’s never too early to talk about the beach! Wear just the Birdie Necklace while you walk along the coast on a warm spring day wearing a white tank and a light jacket. Sweet.

Rev it Up. At night, add an Engravable bar necklace, remove the petals and showcase those sparkles at a networking event!

Full Steam Ahead.  Flower power is back in full force this spring, so take advantage by combining the Zinnia Split Ring, Birdie Necklace and decorate that wrist with a few reversible Arrison stretch bracelets. Gorgeous!

Why I Love Being a Stylist...

Just recently, because I earned sales bonuses and met certain performance quotas, I was able to nab $700 dollars’ worth of jewelry for which I only paid $99 dollars. I work hard to earn those bonuses – they’re not automatically given. Although you wouldn’t necessarily start out at that level, the good news is it’s very attainable!

Being a stylist is open to everyone, but the women who are most successful are the ones who offer the most trunk shows and expand their exposure way beyond their circle of family and friends. It’s also not necessary to build your own website, but I do recommend it for the same reason – it increases my exposure and allows clients to have a site to cruise through that’s full of the links I include.

When someone comes to me and says, “I love everything you have but here’s my budget,” I say, “OK, what do you love? Go through everything I have and I’ll tell you whether I can sample sale it or not.” So another great stylist perk is that at the beginning of every season, I run a sample sale and I reinvest that money back into my business. When I have a VIP sample sale for my customers, they get all the items at half off with no tax and if they’re local, no shipping. I love being able to offer that!
