Looking for an updated classic? Definitely check out a Stella & Dot staple, the Gabrielle necklace, which was inspired by Jackie O. Even decades later, the former first lady’s style persists as a beacon. She consistently showed the world a lovely, streamlined elegance.
There’s always a place in fashion for timeless classics – we all need to keep jewelry, accessories and clothing on hand that defy trends. Pearls belong in that category, but the great thing about the Gabrielle is that these are not your Nana’s pearls.
They’re not just a simple strand but instead are layered on a gold chain, sprinkled with gold baubles throughout and clustered in a way that totally modernizes them. I recently wore the Gabrielle to an event I held at the Junior League and people loved it – I doubled it over a black velvet tuxedo jacket, a burn out top and jeans.
Keep it Simple. The Gabrielle is long (41” with a 2” extender) – wear it long without adding anything else. I live in jeans, and this is the kind of piece that instantly elevates a casual look without going overboard.
Rev it Up. I’m big on layering – I wear it doubled around my neck with an Engravable disc, or I wear it long paired with the Rebel necklace, which is very pretty. There are two ways to double it: create two evenly matched lengths, or gently pull one section into a choker.
Full Steam Ahead. Besides doubling the Gabrielle then layering for gorgeous texture, you can either add Dorothy (pearl) studs, Déjà Vu gold studs with the pavé side visible or the Cleopatra studs. A pair of perfect little studs will pull it all together for your presentation or dressy evening event.
Why I Love Being a Stylist...
The versatility and updated designs of Stella & Dot work for all different kinds of women. It’s super inspiring to see how real people wear these pieces in their own lives.
Any time you’re on the Stella & Dot website looking at a particular item, scroll down to the bottom of the page. There’s a section called Style on the Street where we feature real women who’ve bought the item you’re looking at. They send in photographs via Instagram displaying how they’ve styled themselves, what colors they’re wearing and, my favorite, how they’re layering contrasting or complementary pieces together.
In the Style on the Street section for the Gabrielle necklace, you’ll get lots of ideas; one woman wore it long with her little black dress, another doubled it and paired it with an Engraveable and a single strand of the Chevron Pavé. You’ll see how the Gabrielle can actually switch from casual to bridesmaid. That’s versatile!
