Handwritten Cards & Holiday Greetings

Every year I look forward to it... The day I get my first holiday card in the mail. It's usually the week after Thanksgiving. Happy mail comes pouring through our mailbox all month long. My birthday is December 24 so I get a few birthday cards as well. All the notes and cards filled with well wishes make my heart sing. I love getting mail and I I love sending mail.

Why do I love handwritten notes and holiday cards? I love writing the name of the family of the front of the card. I take a moment to remember how we met and a few of the happy times that we have shared over the years. Friends from college in Chico, roommates from Santa Barbara, friends from jobs in the San Francisco Bay Area, friends from high school in Southern California, friends I met when I became a parent and started making "mommy friends"... I love the holiday letters, the photos of the kids that have evolved from babies to teenagers to young adults, former nannies that now have babies (twins!) of their own.

We seem to get fewer cards each year... and that makes me sad. I continue to send as many as I always have and don't post the photos that are on our cards on social media until after all our cards have been sent. I like there to be an element of suprise.

This year I took a Brushed Lettering Class at Happily Ever Etched taught by Calligraphy Nerd, Andrea Fowler and practiced my skills on our holiday cards. The class has given me more inspiration to write. With each card the letters seem to flow a little more and I'm getting more confident with the flowing script.

Handwriting is a lost art. One that I see slipping away. I am determined to keep the art of handwriting in the forefront of my mind. Our 10 year old son's tutor is a freshman in high school. Recently, when asked the tutor to help my son with his penmanship he said, "I haven't written cursive since fifth grade." "Well then, it sounds like you BOTH could use some practice. I will write out an example sentence and you can both write for 15 minutes. Sound like a deal?" When they finished the assignment, they both had a sense of pride in their work. I am thrilled that the 9th grader is among a small few in his class that is proud of his handwriting - so much so that he recently wrote out the day's lesson plans in cursive on the chalkboard in his English class! Quite impressive!

Do you send handwritten cards? If not, why not. If so, why do you send them?

Emerge - My word of the year for 2017

As many gather with family and friends for Thanksgiving, I make sure I carve out some quiet time to reflect on the past year and make some goals for the coming year.

I also decide what my "word" of the year is. I've chose "EMERGE" as my word for 2017. Emerge as a better business owner, a better leader, a better wife and mother.  Do you have a word of the year?

This personalized engravable necklace from Stella & Dot serves as a daily reminder of my 2017 word of the year - Emerge.

Why I Style with Stella & Dot

Recently, the corporate team at Stella & Dot asked Stylists to share on social media why we style. Reading the posts of why other Stylists style is so inspiring! To see the posts search #whyistyle or #sdjoy on Instagram

There are several reasons why I style. As a working mom of 2 boys with a busy PR firm, I used to crave time outside my home office to connect with other women. Being a Stylist lets me connect with other women in many ways - both in our Stylist community through the amazing friendships I've made, and through the people I've met by doing trunk show styling sessions at their homes. These 90-minute styling sessions aren't just about the jewelry (though that's a major perk!), it provides connections around kitchen tables and in living rooms with women I wouldn't likely have met without being a Stella & Dot Stylist.

Another reason I style is the flexibility to be home when my boys get home from school to simply enjoy the blessings that "ordinary days" of childhood offer. Helping with their homework, reading with them, going for a walk, making cookies... and just "being there" is so important to me. I don't want to miss out on these moments and since I make my own schedule, I don't have to.

Being a Stylist also gives me confidence. I am up-to-date on all the current trends in accessories and get fashion tips from our home office, including regular updates from our Chief Creative Officer, Blythe Harris as well as our our Style Director, Rachel Suter. Gone are the days when I thought I could never pull off a statement necklace over an animal print paired with a bright sweater. I feel "cuter" and more pulled together which leads to a confidence that pours into my everyday life.

The reason Stella & Dot Stylists style are all so very different. What will be yours?

What's a "trunk show" you ask? A pop up shop in someone's living room where we try on jewels and get styled in the latest accessories. It's a 90-minute girl's night (or morning!) that earns our hostesses free product (about $250+ in accessories of their choice) and YOU commission. On your schedule, at your own pace!

Stitch Fix Review

As a busy Stylist and entrepreneur, I've been getting clothing "Fixes" from Stitch Fix for a few years. I love getting curated looks in a "Fix" (five pieces of clothing or shoes chosen just for me by a Stitch Fix Stylist). I thought I'd share my most recent Fix.

How it works
Stitch Fix is a subscription service for clothing that you can have delivered every 2-3 weeks, once a month or once a quarter - or you can schedule a "Fix" at any time.  The best way to get items that most match your personal style is to fully complete the questionnaire when you sign up with Stitch Fix and then create a Pinterest board with styles you like. My Pinterest boards can be viewed here

What is a "Fix"
A "Fix" is a delivery of five (5) items selected for you based on a profile you complete when you sign up. A $20 styling fee is charged to you when your Fix is being styled. If you keep at least one of the five items, you get the $20 deducted as a discount. If you keep all five pieces, you get a 25% discount as well as the $20 credit.

My recent Fix
Few things are more exciting to a girl that loves fashion (me!) than coming home to a box from Stitch Fix on her porch. Opening the box is like Christmas! Since the items are a surprise, it's a monthly fashion gift to yourself! Clothing comes carefully wrapped in tissue and shoes are in a Stitch Fix-branded storage bag. (Stitch Fix also offers accessories including scarves, bags and jewelry but since I'm a Stylist with Stella & Dot I've requested 'no accessories'.)

The first item I tried on was the Curran Split Neck Blouse by Pixley in navy with white polka dots. I love the detailing on the shoulders and the gathering at the back. The blouse has a flowing fit that wasn't too baggy and a flattering neckline. Verdict: Keep!

The next item I tried was the Simona Henley Blouse from Alice Blue. The vibrant floral print is gorgeous and I was surprised how well it worked over the black base. Verdict: Keep!
I've worn both tops several times since they arrived!

I was excited to see shoes in my Fix, especially since these are an item that Stitch Fix just started carrying. The color is gorgeous and I LOVE the Dolce Vita brand. The shoes are more reddish-orange in person, but that makes them more neutral. Verdict: Keep!

I'm always in need of a good skirt to wear to meetings that is comfortable and stylish. The next item in my box was perfect! The Margaret M Christiana Skirt in vibrant purple is a gorgeous color and the subtle print makes it even more fashionable. I can pair this with either of the blouses I received in this Fix to make complete outfits. Margaret M is a Stitch Fix exclusive brand and the cost of the skirt was $78 before discounts. Verdict: Keep!

The last item in my Fix was the Mahl Woven Floral Back Knit Top. It's a super cute top that is perfect for casual days over shorts or jeans. I love that the floral print on the back isn't too bright. It's got great shades of rose and green. It'll be perfect for working from home and weekends. Verdict: Keep!

Overall, this Fix was a WIN! It's one of the few times I've kept all five items and I loved each and every piece. Do you get Fixes from Stitch Fix? What do you think of my items this month? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Fall fashion sneak peek

I attended a fashion conference last week. Get the scoop on upcoming some trends for fall.

Tassels and Fringe

Fringe accents and tassels will continue to be a hot trend this fall. Looks that we saw over the summer will transition into the new season. This tunic from Madewell is great in warm weather with shorts or skinny jeans. As the weather cools layer with an open cardigan. The Mirage Pendant Necklace and the Nomad Stretch Bracelets adds a bit of detail.

Delicate Jewelry

Delicate pieces continue to be on-trend. Ear Climbers and Ear Threaders in gold and silver are the latest in ear accessories.

Ear Climbers that climb up the ear are a cool trend. For a different twist, try wearing the ear climber in your second ear piercing. These Ear Climbers from Stella & Dot are available in Gold and Silver pave. Simply slip them into your ear piercing and slide them up your ear then press to secure them on your ear.

Color!!

Bring on the brights! Canary yellow, cranberry, and deep evergreen along with cobalt blue are colors you'll see on both the runway and in street style this fall. Yellow is already a top color. Expect to see it continue into the fall. Wear yellow with white, blue and denim this summer and bring it into fall by pairing it with navy and dark brown.

Pair yellow with blue jeans, leopard flats and a neutral handbag. This sweater is last season from CAbi (similar), Banana Republic animal print ballet flats (similar) and the Fillmore Cork Tote, Engravable Disc Necklace - Gold  and Icon Watch from Stella & Dot.

Raw edge denim

Distressed jeans continue to go strong. New to the scene: edgy, raw hemlines. Cute with espadrilles and sexy with heeled booties, this new hemline will take the
fall by storm.

Raw hemmed jeans are new to the scene. Pair them with espadrilles or heels. Accessorized with the Cady Wrap and Resilience Cuff from Stella & Dot.

Tassels, Stripes, Pom Poms - What's Hot This Summer

Tassels and stripes are in for sure, but right on its heels (ha! love when puns appear!) are sandals, shirts, and accessories (necklaces and scarves!) with pom poms. They may not be a classic, enduring look but they sure are a fun look for summer! I've seen pom poms along the bottoms of tops ( this one is from J. Crew) and on darling sandals (these are from J's Everyday Fashion clothing line). I've seen tassels on necklaces and scarves. What are some of the fashions you are currently crushing on?

Stylist Tip: Tulum Necklace as a Bracelet

Wear the tassel strand from the ‪Tulum Necklace Necklace around your wrist for a fresh twist on a fun wrap bracelet.  Shown with the Artisan Disc Cuff - Gold, the Terra Ring, and the Nolita Small Crossbody - Raffia Fringe.

Of course, the Tulum Necklace is stunning as a necklace as well! It's super versatile - wear the tassel part as a single strand necklace, wear just the gold section or just the semi-precious stones that sparkle. It's up to you!

The Tulum Necklace (shown below with only one of three strands) is the perfect complement with the Parker Sunglasses and the Reversible Voyager Tote - Denim Ikat.

Behind the Scenes: At the Oscars with Vanity Fair

From the vaults, Feb. 2016.

This week I've had the honor of joining Vanity Fair in Los Angeles to talk all things Oscars. I'm talking with Oscar nominated costume designers, make up artist, directors and actors. The honor is so exciting!

I also got makeup tips from top artists and spent four days of behind the scenes of the Oscars interviewing costume designers, directors and actors and getting a private concert from Emblem3. Quite an experience!

I sat with Sandy Powell, nominated this year for her work on both Carol and Cinderella, and heard about her costume design process.

Sandy shared insight into her design process and some interesting tidbits most aren't aware of regarding movie fashion.

- She rotates wardrobes, but only slightly. In the "real world" we may have a full closet, but tend to wear pieces in phases. We may wear the same 2 or 3 outfits for weeks, then chose other outfits. The same needs to be seen in movies to make them realistic.
- She never starts working on costumes until she's physically met the actor that will portray the character. She needs to get a sense of how the actor feels the role should be executed so she can get a sense of how to dress the character. Only then does she start the process by considering, "Would the character chose this particular cardigan? Would she wash it or take it to the dry cleaner? Would the character select this color and style?"

CAROL
The story is set in New York City in 1952 and Powell believes that the most important scene for costume design is when Cate Blanchett's character, Carol, meets Rooney Mara's character, Therese, in the department store. Carol is dressed in red, showing confidence, and is wearing a magnificent fur coat created for the movie.

The coat is made of vintage fur however, several coats were cut apart and this coat was designed by Powell and sewn together after the furs were dyed to match. The dye caused the stitching to come apart so after every scene the coat was used in, it had to be stitched back together, making it an arduous item to include. "The coat was necessary as it elevated Carol to a certain class and made an incredible statement about her sense of style so it was worth the pain," said Powell.

All the jewelry in the movie is authentic and vintage from designers including Van Cleef & Arpels, established in 1896, making it quite expensive. The shoes Carol wears in the movie were recreated from original designs in the vaults of Ferragamo, an Italian shoe design house established in 1927. Therese's character wears original vintage shoes from the early 1950s and late 1940s as Mara has tiny feet.

Powell scoured to find vintage undergarments for this film, as she does for all the films she works on. "Undergarments are vital as they impact the way the clothes lay. Pointy bras, for example, change the way shirts will fit an actor. We use as many vintage pieces as we can and also use vintage-inspired pieces that are constructed with the same design if we have to," said Powell.

CINDERELLA

The dress that Cinderella wears didn't have to be blue, but after Powell tried several colors, she "kept coming back to blue. It's just so vibrant and really fit the character," she said.

Cinderella's dress was named one of "The 100 Most Iconic Dresses of All Time" by Good Housekeeping in April, 2016. Photo credit: Jonathan Olley/Walt Disney Studios

The dress worn by Cinderella took 500 man hours to make and is made up of layer upon layer of color including yellow, green and blue. The dress has eight versions. One is shorter than the others for the purpose of scenes in which Cinderella is running. One has a larger bottom layer for scenes shot from above so the dress can still be seen. Another dress was made to fit the stunt double.

For the ballroom dance scene, Powell designed more than 100 ball gowns for the cast. While Powell loves dressing men in well cut suits (and especially loves the 19th century period, "the men just looked so sexy!", the men's suits were mostly monochromatic in color as to not take away from the women's colorful ball gowns and were rented.

"The dresses were all created individually, I didn't really follow a color palette. I wanted each dress to be a masterpiece that stood on it's own and the end result was quite dramatic when all the actors came together for the dance scene," she said.

"I also took into consideration that the women attending the ball wouldn't have consulted with each other about what they would wear, so naturally, all the dresses would be different," said Powell.

Stella & Dot Trunk Show Time - Blue Dress with Flutter Sleeves

I love trunk shows - partly because I get to throw on a pretty dress, some jewels and have a fun time styling some ladies. Today I wore a dress I picked up for a steal at J. Crew Factory. Shop the dress here: J. Crew Factory ($54!)

I paired it with the Natalie Necklace (reversible!), an engravable bar necklace, our Icon Watch - Stone and the Cady Wrap Bracelet - Gold. How would you style a navy dress?

(Sidenote: I've been getting a lot of questions about my lipstick. It's "Twig" from Beautycounter.)

Supporting victims in Fort McMurray: Fete Bracelet – Gold

Our thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by the devastation in Fort McMurray, Canada. To support the victims of the fire, now through Sunday, May 15, Stella & Dot is donating all net proceeds of the gold Fete Bracelet to the Red Cross. The Canadian Government will match donations made to the Canadian Red Cross in support of wildlife relief efforts.

Blueprint for Style: Blue and White Fashion

I don't know about you but I'm a sucker for anything blue and white. It reminds me of days by the crisp ocean air and marinas and everything "fresh". Being in Southern California, I'm used to sunny days, but for those of you in other parts of the country blue and white should bring some sunshine and reminders of fresh spring air as well.

I'm currently loving the mixes of prints with blue and white I'm seeing, including Princess Kate during her trip to India. (There's nothing that says "this is a hot trend" more than seeing it on a royal)! But, let's remember, we can ALL bring some of that royal (blue!) style into our lives right now, at work or play - on any budget. I'm loving the details in her dress and the casual earrings she's paired them with.

Kate's dress reminds me of two of the new tunics we have - the Kaftan-Indigo and the Embroidered White Tunic - Indigo. Both tunics are available in multiple sizes for the
perfect fit.

You can get a more dressed up look in our tunics wearing them over white linen pants or skinny jeans and heels, as seen below. Add some gold earrings and a tassel necklace, like the Tulum Necklace from Stella & Dot, to complete the look.

Pair our new Bunglow Hoops - Gold with the Tulum Necklace (wear it multiple ways!) for added flair. Don't be afraid to mix prints with fringe - even in an office environment to let your personality shine and stand out in a sea of suits and monochrome dresses.

Get the look of Kate's sunglasses with our Miramar Sunglasses - Blonde. These are hand-crafted, hand polished frames and lenses with UVA/UVB protection. For just $119 you get all the quality of sunglasses three times that price! The Miramar Sunglasses are also available in Black. They are going quickly, so grab a pair now so you have them all summer.

Complete the look with the Vista Wrap Bracelet (also wearable as a necklace!), the City Slim Clutch - Embroidered Indigo, and the Artisan Disc Cuff - Gold.

Why I Love Being a Stylist...

I love being able to add the latest in color and print trends into my work and play wardrobe for free and half off! Stella & Dot's Summer Collection - Focus on Tunics, Sunglasses and Bags

The calendar says April, but for at Stella & Dot, it's SUMMER! The summer collection just launched this week a line extension into TUNICS and SUNGLASSES! I'm SO excited! This is one of the best collections I've seen in my three years with the company.

Here I'm focusing one of three new tunics, the sunglasses and the new bags.

Sporting some of my new personal favorites - Parker Sunglasses - Tortoise, the Caftan - Indigo and the Mirage Pendant Necklace.

Sporting some of my new personal favorites - Parker Sunglasses - Tortoise, the Caftan - Indigo and the Mirage Pendant Necklace.

The Caftan - Indigo is already a personal favorite - I'm wearing it over skinny jeans now and will wear it over a swimsuit all summer.

The Mirage Pendant Necklace is another favorite. Inspired by the brilliant patterns of Mexican papel picado (perforated paper) this style adds fun movement to any look. Plus, it's super lightweight and will look GREAT over a maxi dress or tossed on over a tank top.

Let me tell you about the new sunglasses! All hand polished, scratch resistant and have UVA/UVB protection. You get all that, plus a really adorable hard carrying case and a cute cleaning cloths inside. Each of the shapes have distinguishing details to them. The Parker has a custom perforated pattern on side, the Miramar design has custom detail of three arrowheads on the side and one on front and inset into the acetate. which is another luxury detail, and the Aviators, which are slightly more rounded than traditional aviators, have a beautiful custom arrow detail which wraps around the front of each frame and tortoise on the back. WOW!!!!!! These are high quality, luxury sunglasses!

I love getting new totes every few months (and I'm getting spoiled since as a Stylist I either get them free or half off!) and lately I'm carrying the Fillmore Tote - Geo Cork. Cork is on-trend as are bright colors, making this a win-win in the style department!

Looking for the perfect tote for the beach to the farmer's market and back? Look no more!
The Voyage Tote comes in two styles and both are REVERSIBLE (I know!!). Demin/Ikat and Chambray/Mint are the options and you can't go wrong with either one!

Top on my reading summer list? My copy of Stella & Dot CEO and Founder Jessica Herrin's new book "Find Your Extraordinary". This book is such an insightful view into the conversation about women in the workforce and how to truly follow your passion in life. Pre-order it already!!! The new Riviera Tote - Raffia Fringe is a stunner - and wants me to be beach-bound! The fun black and white lining and attention to detail in the metal clasp make this the perfect bag to carry all summer long! The Miramar Sunglasses - Black are a classic and will compliment any wardrobe.

Star Power - Becoming a Stella & Dot Stylist

After I had my kids, I felt like I lost myself for a while. Of course I adore my children and they’re incredibly important in my life, but I had a moment of wondering, “Is that all there is?” And, now that they are in school, I’m even happier that I became a Stella & Dot Stylist as I work on my time and can pick the kids up from school.

Even with our most cherished and important life events, jobs or relationships these questions rise up. I realized I wanted something more – I needed to find more joy, happiness and more ‘me’ time.  That was my "why".

When I became an S&D stylist, I didn’t intend to do it full time and I still don’t. Literally and figuratively, Stella & Dot allows you to style your life the way you want.

The Transformation

I love my ‘side business’ much more than I thought I would and make more money than I anticipated! I just expected to style people for fun and get paid as a bonus, so it was a fun surprise to get promoted from Stylist to Star in eight months, which is a fairly short amount of time. Now that the holiday shopping season is coming, people are starting to shop to enhance their fall wardrobes, and for holiday gifts.

I found my "star" at our annual sales conference - on the way back from the pool after registering...

I found my "star" at our annual sales conference - on the way back from the pool after registering...

The best part is that I – or you – can have another job and still be a successful stylist: just adjust the time commitment and your goals accordingly.

For me, being promoted to Star Stylist means I transitioned from working solo to having a team of 23 people, coaching them and selling a lot of product. I upped my coaching rate and doubled my income just by sponsoring and selling!

Me and a few of my amazing team members!

Me and a few of my amazing team members!

The Journey

In the beginning, each month I just wanted to sell $250, then $500, then $750 and so on. Selling $5000 a month is my new goal. It sounds like a lot, but the jewelry TRULY does sell itself. I chat with more people than I used to since they are asking about the accessories I’m wearing - and I hold in-home trunk shows now than I did when I first signed up. I promote it big time on social media (the company helps us by providing content) but I also wear it all the time. I’m passionate about the jewelry and the company so it’s easy!

Celebrating at Hoopla (our annual sales convention) with some dear friends that are also Stella & dot stylists. I've made more girlfriends on this journey than I ever thought possible!

Many women seek something expansive to get involved with and might join a book club or bunco group. Becoming an S&D stylist gives people a fun activity in a community of women while they also learn about selling, gain confidence and look cuter while they do it.

Beyond that, we have women who are paying for family vacations and home renovations, single moms who are taking their kids to Disneyland for the first time, women supplementing their husband’s income so their kids can go to private baseball lessons, using the extra cash for In Vitro Fertilization or even buying a car that they’ve always wanted… It’s changing families.

I enjoy being more fashionable and on trend – now I’ll go to a soccer game wearing something adorable; I never would have done that before!

I was recently featured in an online profile on Stella & Dot’s website wearing the Oasis Bib necklace you see here. I love this piece, though it’s been retired from the collection; the last few are on sale. (Nab something if you see it because certain items may not last forever!)

Life of a Stylist - Such a Fun Friday!

Today I'm providing a behind the scenes look into my life as a Stylist.

Today was a fun day all the way around! I started the morning with a networking meeting with a fab group of ladies in my home town where I shared social media tips. I'm active on Twitter, Instagram and most recently Periscope. My handle is @EmpoweredElaine - let's connect! Social media allows me to engage with customers and potential new Stylists. In fact, just today a new Stylist joined my team that I met on Twitter - I'm in California and she's in South Dakota! I LOVE the power of making real relationships on these platforms.

Next I ran errands and was stopped and complimented by a gentleman admiring my Hudson Tote. He's looking for a gift for his daughter and thinks it is perfect! I gave him a mini look book, got his contact information and will follow up with him this weekend.

I spent the afternoon in a Strategic Business Session with fellow professional women at eWomenNetwork. We brainstormed different business ideas for all in attendance. Quite an inspiring group!

I can honestly say I never have the same day twice! I meet a lot of great women, enjoy being my own boss and am always on trend with the latest jewels and accessories! Contact me if you've ever thought of joining my team or would like to have a fun trunk show styling session to earn free accessories (my average hostess earns $250 in free product of their choice and shops at 1/2 off!).

Style Trend - Off the Shoulder Tops and Flared Denim Jeans

The soft silhouette and feminine detail of this top are so flattering and fun. Shoulder baring tops are everywhere for spring and summer! We're also seeing wide leg jeans having a moment!

STYLE TIPS: Pair an off the shoulder top with wide leg denim, wedges, and long earrings for a fun night out look, or wear an off the shoulder top with cropped skinny white denim, platform sandals for an effortlessly chic look.

Sweet Relief - Travel Bags

Unless you live in Hawaii, chances are that winter 2015-2016 messed with your head and permanently lowered your core temperature. Now that we’re enjoying a little extra daylight, get your blood circulating by taking a spring break trip. Whether you’re a student out for a good time or a mom toting your kids to a Florida beach, you’ll want to plan for travel and look cute doing it.

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know I’m all over Stella & Dot’s cool versatility. They’re great at predicting what you’ll want and need to take on vacation.

Stella & Dot's Getway bags are large enough to hold everything you need for a week away, yet they still fit in the overhead compartments on planes and can be carry-ons. (Here's a tip - toss your purse inside it and it will count as one of the 2 carry-ons!). It also zips open at the bottom to expand - I know I always pick up goodies when I am out of town and I'm sure you do the same!

Elaine Recommends…

Keep it Simple.  You’re enjoying your first blissfully warm evening on spring break. The Waverly Petite is perfect for restaurants and bars -- use it almost like a wallet.  Plus it fits a long iPad you can bring with you on the plane!

Rev it Up. I love the versatility of the How Does She Do It bag, which holds a laptop and can also be popped up on the sides to transition from a carryall into a purse. Or if you need something breezy for the beach, grab an Avalon tote, sun block and your water bottle and toss your hotel key into the zip pocket.

Full Steam Ahead. When I travel for longer periods or pack for my kids, I use the Getaway. That’s the multi-patterned bag that zips and expands. Leave room when you pack - you know you’ll buy sparkly trinkets on vacation! Also, pair the Getaway with the Hang On Travel Case, with its neat compartments for toiletries, your statement necklace, perfume…

Why I Love Being a Stylist...

How many times have you thought when packing, “Ugh, I can’t take that laptop bag because that’s all it’s good for?” I really love the level of detail and versatility in Stella & Dot’s jewelry and bags. From the consideration they give to airline regulations to constructing carryalls that accommodate your laptop and so much more, their accessories just work.

Stella & Dot is owned by two working moms. They’re Stanford MBA graduates who are both married with small kids and they get it. They also get the everyday mom who is busy, young and maybe didn’t go to college.

As a part-time business option for working moms, I love the flexibility Stella & Dot offers Stylists; the business works when you do. If you have a family issue and are unable to work one week, no harm, no foul. We have brand ambassadors who sell one necklace a year, full time Stylists and everything in between. It pays for private ballet lessons, medical issues, car payments or purse and shoe money.  As Stylists we always get 25% off everything; what a great incentive to stay fashionable and current!

Become a Stella & Dot Stylist before your next trip, get 50% off and nab that weekender! Click HERE to connect with me and we’ll get you started on a new career.

It's A Tote-ally Amazing Bag!

We’re still technically in spring but, on fashion calendars, summer is already in the air. Runways are being packed up after recent fashion shows and the latest look books for summer collections – including Stella & Dot’s summer line – are printed.

It’s the biggest fashion season of the year. And I’m filled with as much excitement as the next fashion-lover.

This season it’s all about stripes and neutrals!

The Hudson Tote Large Black/Cream Clean Stripe and matching City Slim Clutch are already best-sellers! Stella & Dot has already sold out of this bag once; not surprising, as it’s a black and white striped tote with tan handles. It pairs perfectly with the City Slim Clutch that fits into a side pocket and gives the look of a leather-perf covered pocket. Slip it out for a night on the town and you are good to go!

Elaine Recommends…

Keep it Simple. Make the tote as your everyday bag and add the City Slim Clutch for added flair.

Rev it Up. Tie a scarf around one of the handles and it takes it up a notch. The Hudson Tote is a perfect mate for the Union Square Scarf – Black and Cream Tribal Geo.

Full Steam Ahead. Add an arm party, such as the Milana Tassel Bracelets or the new Artisan Stretch Bracelets, for added accents.
